Maria is the founder of Spark Asia Leadership Practice, a leadership development & consultancy company focusing on advancing leadership in Asia. Prior to setting up her own company in 2007, she was Custom Solutions Director/Faculty at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL)’s Singapore office which serves the Asia-Pacific region. She was active in helping client organizations across Asia nurture sustainable leadership. Her clients include Fortune 500 companies, financial institutions, industry leaders and non-profit/educational institutes. She worked with clients on leadership across cultures, leading teams, talent development, innovation and women leadership.
Before Maria moved into training and leadership development, she worked as a senior consultant at the Human Resource Practice of KPMG Peat Marwick (Singapore) where she consulted with clients on matters including operational reviews, employment contracts, training, restructuring and outplacement.
Capitalising on her first-hand knowledge of leadership needs/issues in Asia and drawing from her own successful career in business, Maria is skilled in designing and delivering training & development solutions that help shape leadership of our businesses today. Her consulting experience with KMPG Peat Marwick, her lecturing experience in various universities and the industrial relations role that she played in the Hong Kong and Singapore Governments, all serve to facilitate her connections with people, industries and businesses. Maria also shares her experiences with business leaders through coaching, a service that she delivers regionally, in English, Chinese and Cantonese. She also speaks French and Japanese.
Born and educated in Hong Kong, Maria holds a bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Social Sciences from the University of Hong Kong and a MBA from the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore (NTU).
