Tim primarily teaches a variety of cross-cultural, communication, leadership, presentation, virtual/electronic communication and team building, and business writing courses in the MBA Program at the Kenan-Flagler Business School of the University of North Carolina (UNC) in the US.
As a cross-cultural trainer, he has also consulted with a wide variety of corporate, public-sector, non-profit and individual clients who sought to enhance their leadership abilities by increasing their awareness of cross-cultural considerations, and their immediate abilities to operate more effectively across cultures in the global business climate.
Certified in the IDI and ICSI as well as CultureActive, Tim’s interests focus primarily on emerging markets in Eastern Europe, the Middle East/North Africa (MENA), and the BRIC countries, but his experience and training encompass nearly the entire globe.
Tim’s cross-cultural work began two decades ago, teaching English as a Second Language to recent immigrants to Washington DC and has continued since then on parallel tracks: to help acculturate new arrivals to the US, to assist business people honing their abilities to operate globally, and to coach individuals on their personal and professional development in a wide variety of ways. He has presented and published extensively on developing cross-cultural sensitivity and abilities, primarily through the lenses CultureActive offers, and has a full grasp of not only the leading theories, but the important and impactful, business-focused application of those theories in the real world. Tim continues to coach, study, travel, research, consult, train and develop both his own and others’ cross-cultural acumen, brings high energy and clear focus to all his work, and revels in the opportunities to engage individuals and groups of any size on discussions, activities and implementations of cross-cultural and global focus.
