Cheryl Lynn Obal is a highly professional and experienced trainer of intercultural competence, business skills, and English language. She has conducted training and coaching at multinational companies and institutions across the globe, living and working for extended periods in the USA, Italy, India, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Japan and Qatar.
Her career as a language trainer began in New York City and then led her to Italy, where she ran her own English language school for professionals in many sectors. She then worked as a Culture and Communication Specialist for Microsoft in India, and as a corporate trainer all over Korea, for Cross-Cultural Training, Business Writing Skills, Presentation Skills, Negotiation Skills, and Meeting Skills.
She currently teaches Business English, Business Writing, and Intercultural Communication at a university in Saudi Arabia.
Cheryl is certified in TEFL, Cultural Detective, and the Lewis Model of Culture. She has a talent for developing tailored courses based on client needs and her passion is inspiring people to achieve their best.
Born and raised in the USA, Cheryl's first career as a professional dancer and choreographer led her to travel worldwide.
Having witnessed thought-provoking scenes throughout her travels, she developed a passion for human rights. She pursued an M. A., International Peace Operators, at the University of Trieste, where she focused on humanitarian work, peacekeeping, cultural mediation and negotiation. Choosing Indian human rights as her focus, Cheryl did research, field- and volunteer work in different NGOs in India. She’s worked in NGOs in several other countries, often raising funds and awareness through dance and educational events.
Cheryl speaks five languages, has visited 55 countries, and never plans to stop travelling and learning about other cultures.
